The pool was supposed to stay open till 7 they closed it early every night for an event that no one was interested in. It’s nothing hip or sensational about this resort if you want somewhere to go die at. Their no speaker rule at the pool is ridiculous, most of the guest agreed. They don’t offer music or anything adult. They don’t cater to their population or accommodate their guest. This is an adult only hotel with childish rules. This is a resort that caters to old white people between ages 55-65. I went for my birthday with couples and friends. We would absolutely return to Costa Rica and stay at Secrets again! Pura Vida!ĭo not stay here. Also I needed to talk to a doctor at one point in the trip and the concierge helped connect me and followed up to check on me later which I really appreciated.įor reference of the hills on the resort, our room was approximately 3 flights of stairs up from the main hub of restaurants and bars. We got to drive into the rain forest and experience part of the beautiful country we wouldn't see at the resort. On to the rest of the resort - we did an excursion through Amstar which was absolutely worth it. Jean Pierre at Marketplace was so attentive (and looks like Mario Lopez) and Hans at Portafino was phenomenal server.
(Every one at the Premier club was TBH) Adrian on beach service was fun and always had another drink for us. Jose at the pool/beach service was so wonderful that we were spoiled on our first day! Consistently just made our absolute day! Jose at the Premier club was so kind and attentive. But the true reason for the 5 stars are the staff. The food is good and the drinks were inspired. Secrets Costa Rica has been an absolute beautiful dream! The resort is gorgeous, updated, and clean. We waited at most 40 mins, which was understandable. Even one guy dropped of chocolates to our room!Įvery time we ordered room service, we would get a call to confirm our order. We had a few of the staff members always make sure that we were taken care of and always ask us how we were doing. No one was acting crazy! We even were able to read a book! This is a resort to RELAX! It was nice that it was more calm than other places. The drinks werent too strong, but it was nice to not get completely blacked out and just get a buzz and relax! And they were all delicious! We layed out by the beach as well!Ī lot of people said that the beach wasnt nice, but we enjoyed it! Water was really warm and no waves, so it was nice to just hang around! We even saw a sting ray on our last day! Even the staff walked down to the beach to take our drink orders! We spent a couple days by the relaxation pool, which was a quieter area. She was super helpful and nice! And was fierce when we watched her do the tug of war in the main pool! We also made bracelets with a girl, i cant remember her name, i think it was Yasrini. We played ping pong and did battle of the sexes with Merari! She was super fun and out going and always trying to include everyone! We did snorkeling and kayaking with Kevin, he was super nice and helpful when putting on our life jackets! He had a lot of facts that he shared with us! And he was always cracking jokes! Super cool and fun guy! The servers and waiters were all very friendly and helpful! Jeffrey at the swim up bar was so nice and friendly! Right before last call we got to talk to him a bit more with out the chaos of everyone around, and he was really sweet! We had the buffet every day for breakfast and it didnt disappoint! We tried all of the restraunts, had room service, and even ordered food by the pool, and it was all excellent! I didnt realize that the rooms were going to be spread out and on hills, but it actually was so cool! You are literally right in the middle of the jungle! There are lizards of all shapes and sizes around the resort! (We had a couple small ones end up in our room) I went to Secrets this past week, and it exceeded my expectations!
